  • I've read that its not necessary to dilute milk for kids, especially when they are 3 or under. Whether they have breast milk or animal milk they need the full fat and nutrients from it.
  • The sponge gets really great reviews from users. There's also a new type of diaphragm that doesn't require a vaginal examination. I'm not sure if it has the sane rate of effectiveness but its worth looking g into because it would be the only non-i…

  • There is something called diatamaceous clay that you can sprinkle along all the openings of your home. I'm not 100% sure how well it works because I've used it with a number of other things but a lot of friends I know swaer by it. It can be safely…
  • You might be surprised at how easy it is and useful to use cloth. I've had to take care of many babies and some of them have used cloth diapers. There is really nothing more to do with them except to wash them rather than buy more and they are muc…
  • I would like to take the first year or so off. After that, I was thinking I might like to have my own in-home daycare or kids learning studio to teach classes. I'm looking for something where I can work with kids, because that's where my experienc…
  • Just a few years ago people didn't really worry about them until kids are toddlers with a full set, but now there are recommendations saying to start brushing their gums! You can brush baby teeth with a soft brush, just using water. You can also u…
  • One thing you can try is to send pictures to the cellphone of whatever adult is taking care of them, or to their email address. The kids will probably be interested in any fun pictures you can take (of their pet, their toys, an animal outside, what…
  • I never considered all these possibilities about being in the hospital after going birth! I thought it was not recommended to walk around right after giving birth.
  • I think I would try co-sleeping if you can handle it. Or at least sleeping in the same room.
  • Knitting is also a great habit!
  • That's great advice momma5931. I don't have much of a relationship with her mother but it can still be worth a conversation! I know they also get candy at school sometimes.

  • I have a gym membership and most gyms seem to have a childcare center. It may be included in your gym membership or it could be a discounted fee per hour. I find that the familiar faces and social aspect really helps me come regularly.
  • I think I'd want to talk everyday or be in touch in some way. You can use apps as well to have video chats. However the stepkids moms don't talk to them everyday when they are here. Its more like less than once a week.
  • I'm also thinking about rather hardwood or carpet is better and also is it better to have a large house or a smaller, more efficient layout, so there's less to clean?!
  • I have read a little about that phenomena 1 happymom. The way I understand it is that you were sensitive to it from the beginning but your body reached a level of overload and can't handle it anymore, but it was always treating the food as a poison…
  • That's interesting 1happymom. I never considered kids having different tastes in music! I see how that could get tricky but it sounds like preparing ahead is the best option
  • I actually find myself very uncomfortable when people use foods as treats, to bribe their kids or take it away as punishment. However I don't think I could have it be totally unregulated, however I respect your style. I do think its important to ed…

  • Wow that's a good point momma5931 I never thought to taste the baby food!
  • I feel this sometimes being a stepmom and sometimes just because of being pregnant. Little hands and now big hands touching me gets draining and overwhelmingly uncomfortable sometimes. What I've started doing is being incredibly busy whenever I…
  • As a stepmom and former nanny candy is regulated to one piece during holidays and I make sure its one did f a small list if approved candies. My nerves just can't handle a kid with a sugar high! Honestly they don't even miss candy!

  • Hmm. Great idea happymom! I might use that for the older girls. I could hide it in their room! As for the baby it will sleep in my room.
  • I really think it depends on the child, the school and your goals. Is socializing with kids his age your main goal? If so, does he go to parks, recreation classes or play dates that can make up for that? There are many different types of schools so …
  • Thanks! That's great advice! I did not think about the proximity to school and things like that. I think I need to spend some time looking at the city and find a great area to focus my search on. Thanks again. I also want to look at something w…
  • momma5931 that sounds like great advice. I'll keep that in mind when my baby is born.
  • This article has great advice for saving for college in Australia:
  • There are a lot of different childbirth classes and methods, like there are so many different ways to give birth. I think it's a great idea to get educated even if you have read a lot, sometimes there's nothing like hands-on learning. Some lessons…
  • There's a method of expressing milk using a glass jar. It sounds odd but some find it hard to use a pump can use a jar more effectively. You'd want it to be the right size and warm(but not hot). I've also read it can be helpful to do it while hol…
  • My "morning sickness" is lasting the whole day and the whole pregnancy! It is definitely very difficult, I feel like the weather could have something to do with it, as well as stress. The rest I guess is just my luck. The doctor says everything l…
  • I don't have this situation yet, but it does seem like every time my so is around the baby starts kicking like crazy. Then if we have been together for awhile, right when it stops (like he goes to sleep or goes to work) the baby starts kicking like…
  • I will try to plan the season my baby is born next time. I don't want to be pregnant in the summer, so I'll have to get pregnant in the summer.
  • I've never used acupuncture at all and I honestly can't see myself ever using it, but I do have plans to use acupressure, which I guess is just manual pressure on the same areas you would emphasize with acupuncture.
  • I would like to be able to do child-led weaning and let the baby continue having milk until they decide they don't want to anymore. I'm really not worried that it would continue too long because I've heard so many stories and read about toddlers de…
  • I'd like to think of a place that would be a good place to have adult time, while also bringing the baby. I don't think I'd be comfortable leaving my baby with anyone for awhile, but I'd like to be able to go out sooner than I'd prefer to get a bab…
  • The lactation consultant I saw said they can create nipple confusion if you use a pacifier or dummy. So it could cause the baby to breastfeed wrong and hurt your nipples if they also use a dummy.
  • It's beginning to get a little difficult but I like to play guitar for my baby. I also like to play songs I like, a lot of folk music and bossa nova. I play a little Classical music too, it helps me focus and relax too. Oh and I also found a type…
  • I'm planning to breastfeed and at least I know my nipples are not inverted, so I should be able to. I have also gone to La Leche League meetings and talked to a lactation consultant so I know how to trouble shoot most problems and if I have more pr…
  • I'll be having a baby shower soon. I am assuming people will bring gifts I can use to set up a nursery but until then, I don't have plans to get anything. After I get the gifts I will look at what else I need and maybe create a plan for setting up…
  • I had a list of names when I was a child that I thought I'd use when I had kids, but now I am not really interested in any of them. I still like the names, but I don't think I will be naming my baby any of them. I'm so busy with everything names a…
